The Spyderco Manbug Black FRN Lockback (MBKP) is one of the smallest locking knives Spyderco builds, carrying a 1.94-inch VG-10 blade in a handle sized for a key ring. The Manbug is a close cousin of the Ladybug, with a slightly fuller handle that gives the fingers a little more to hold. Its clip point blade has a satin finish and a plain edge that slices cleanly for its size.
Black FRN keeps the whole knife featherweight, and its molded texture adds traction on a slick little handle. VG-10 is a cobalt-bearing Japanese stainless that holds a keen edge and shrugs off sweat and humidity. A real back lock holds the blade open, so a small knife does not mean a flimsy one.
At roughly 2.5 inches closed, it disappears on a keychain or in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans. It is made in Japan, like the rest of the Bug family. Owners often keep one on their keys as a backup to a larger everyday carry knife. The hawkbill Manbug and the Ladybug series are in our lockback knives.
